Research
Before we start a project we do our research - we look at the market, competitors, look at user needs and talk to SMEs. We may commission surveys or analyse website data to find out as much as possible.
Planning
We work with the business to define the scope which includes the budget for testing and build. This will factor in business involvement from developers, legal teams and content teams to ensure all bases are covered. We will start to map out key journeys and look at user empathy, engagement and pain points.
Design and protyping
We like to share design sketches early which helps to inform the prototyping process. Where possible we like to create prototypes which are interactive. We have found that these can really speed up projects as they prompt discussion, enthusiasm and visualisation that can prevent misunderstanding and inertia which are every project manager’s nightmare.
User testing and optimisation
Whether you can afford a testing lab with cherry picked test subjects or some guerilla testing on zoom with volunteers, this can provide hugely valueable insights into how users will react to your design. What do they love and what is forcing them to leave in droves? It’s amazing what issues testing can resolve and how it can inform design for your website or app.
UI and branding
Once you’ve done the rest, you are in a great place to hone the design and ensure your branding is on point.
